JKPSC Civil Judge Syllabus and Exam Pattern 2023

The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has released the official syllabus and exam pattern for the JKPSC Civil Judge exam 2023. The selection process for the JKPSC Civil Judge exam is based on the scores from the preliminary exam, mains exam, and personality test. Before starting your preparation, it’s important to know the exam pattern and syllabus.


Exam Pattern:

The JKPSC Civil Judge preliminary exam is divided into two parts, Paper A and Paper B. For each correct answer, you’ll get 1 mark.


JKPSC Civil Judge Syllabus 2023

The JKPSC Civil Judge Recruitment exam has two stages: Prelims and Mains. The prelim exam has two papers, Paper A and Paper B. Below is the full syllabus for your reference:


Prelims Exam

Paper A (225 Marks)
  • General Knowledge
  • Indian Constitution Law
  • The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973
  • The Indian Evidence Act, 1872
  • The Indian Penal Code, 1860
  • The Limitation Act, 1963
Paper B (225 Marks)
  • Financial Code, Volume I & II
  • Kashmir Service Regulations (Chapters III to XIII, XXII and XXIII)
  • Rules and Orders for Subordinate Courts (Civil and Criminal) and Circular Orders issued by the High Court
  • The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908
  • The Registration Act, 1908
  • The Transfer of Property Act, 1882
  • The Jammu and Kashmir Residential and Commercial Tenancy Act, 2012

Mains Exam

The mains exam includes both compulsory and optional papers.

Compulsory Papers (100 Marks Each)
  • Paper I: English Essay, Translation (English to Urdu/Hindi and vice versa), and Precis Writing
  • Paper II: General Knowledge and Indian Constitutional Law
  • Paper III: The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, The Indian Evidence Act, 1872, and The Indian Penal Code, 1860
  • Paper IV: Financial Code, Volume I & II, Kashmir Service Regulations (Chapters III to XIII, XXII and XXIII), and Rules for Subordinate Courts
  • Paper V: The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, The Limitation Act, 1963, and The Registration Act, 1908
  • Paper VI: The Transfer of Property Act, 1882, and The Jammu and Kashmir Residential and Commercial Tenancy Act, 2012

JKPSC Civil Judge Exam Pattern 2023

Prelims Exam:
  • The exam consists of 2 papers.
  • Each paper is worth 225 marks.
  • The duration of each paper is 2 hours.

Personality Test (Interview)

The interview is worth 140 marks. The aim of the interview is to test your intelligence, general knowledge, personality, and suitability for the role.


Physical Fitness Test

To be appointed as a member of the service, candidates must be in good physical and mental health. Before final approval, you’ll need to undergo a medical exam, for which you will have to pay a fee.
